Egyptian Goose Step - 22 x 30cms Gouache on Khadi paper
The geese were developed from my watercolour sketch:
I have a passion for Egyptian Geese but have only seen them at an agricultural show in Umbria.
Often the desire to paint birds means one has to beg, borrow or steal (never!) a photo reference. This time I am extremely lucky to have a wonderful photograph taken by a good friend in Richmond Park, London. I could go on painting it forever.

This is a very creative idea! I like how you used the one photo and made a whole row of them. This is the kind of painting that I was noticing at the galleries recently. Up close, you feel the personality of the birds and focus on each of them. It has a whole different feeling when you're seeing it across the room, it takes on a nice almost-abstract quality with the horizontal movement. It looks good from up close OR far away... It's perfect!

You should have said - I too love Egyptian Geese and we have some in parks I visit in London and I photograph them at every opportunity!
