Robin on Toast - 24 x 30cms oil on panel
Impossible to photograph this at the moment and it's a little large for the scanner so the scan is a little soft. But I haven't posted any work for ages.
The robins are constantly in our garden this winter so a lot of time evaporates as I sit at the bedroom window with binoculars. To date I've had no luck inviting them inside to share my toast!

Sounds good that you get to see a lot of robins this Winter. We have one or two, but as we are at the sea, we get mostly seagulls - not quite as charming. Your robin makes a lovely painting.
I'm very fond of seagulls too, Ann. They are one of the delights of going back to Australia.
Your style is getting clearer and clearer as you produce each painting. Very nicely executed too - that toast looks good enough to eat!
Thanks, Katherine. :) I've discovered toast is easier to eat than paint.
Robins here in Vermont as well. I thought it was Spring for a moment.
Love the stillness, light and joy of the painting
Again- your love of Mary Fedden very evident. But though influenced by her you've taken from it, left it behind and now making it all your own, your style. Isn't that the way it is in art - learning from each other? A lovely painting
Poet Whale, thank you for visiting and your lovely comment.
Bridget - Thank you :) It was very liberating for me to hear Mary Fedden say much the same thing about learning for others. And it's there to see when one goes back and looks at her influences. I'd still love to be able to paint exactly like her. ;)
Great that you are getting visits from these little creatures!!! I love robins and you do them so well! Ciao!
Love the flat vs. 3d struggle in this one. The overall effect is wonderful! All of your robin paintings are excellent - there can never be too many robins!
Oh dear! I'm leaning the other way!
I miss your light water colours, Robyn!
Thanks, Dan. If only I could get them to eat out of my hand.
