Collage can be scary

A cage is a cage - gouache & collage on Khadi cotton rag
25 x 30 cm

This painting was always intended to be collaged. It's the fourth in a series. Then I got to the point where I thought, I really like the dove. Am I going to ruin it with the fan tail? Thank goodness for Scotch Magic Tape - in the short term it will allow me to change my mind.

Beautiful work Robyn - the composition is a delight. Are there, in fact, any collaged pieces - it all looks like your wonderful painting technque. Still get a 'ah yes' feeling when your new fresh clean blog format comes up.

Thanks, Joan. :) Actually only the dove's tail is collage.
Glad you like the freshened up look of the blog. I was wondering if I should fiddle with it again this morning. It seems too busy to me.

This series is going from strength to strength - love the combination of flat plane with realistic painting and now the 3D collage - the dove is so beautiful!

Beautiful, Collage can be scary, applying things over other things. Have fun and go for it! The fear of failure cripples us creatively. I have to tell myself it's just an experiment and give myself permission to fail mentally setting me free to enjoy the process. Your work is just beautiful!

I agree with the above - this is great and the doves tail is fine :>)

Cathy - You make my heart sing!

Desiree - Thank you, Desiree, I really need to prepare myself to bin more stuff. Mostly I stubbornly plod on until I can get it close to right.

Vivien - Thanks so much. So I guess this means I can go ahead and glue that tail on?

These collages are great!!! They are a little different for you.

I just got back from my Venice trip and am slowly catching up on the blogs I love. Ciao!
