May 2005 - Two Australians moved to Tuscany where they planned to live for two years. Two weeks later their dogs, Snowy and Dermott, arrived. Seven years and a property purchase later, they're still here.

My First Art Show
May is Festival Month in Castiglion Fiorentino - Maggio Castiglionese. My Wednesday afternoon oil painting group is putting on a show as part of the cultural activities.
Needless to say I'm pretty excited, since this is the first time I've exhibited.
Unfortunately my name doesn't fit any Italian spelling pattern, so when the proofs of the poster arrived I had become Robjn. The error was noted and now the final posters have been delivered. I'm now Robin Sinclaire! I think I preferred Robjn.
Possibly I'm a victim of Botticelli's Curse. Has the master taken offence at my copy of his Primavera?
They're nice big posters.

I think Botticelli would be pleased. It's a beautiful painting!
She looks fabulous on the poster - congratulations! Is that you holding the poster?
Lisa - Thank you :)
Shirley - I thought poor Flora suffered through the printing process, her flushed cheeks make her look like she's coming down with a virus ;)
That is one of my Italian artist friends holding the poster. She's a better painter than me and certainly speaks better Italian than I do!
Congrats Robyn...hope it goes well and may it be the first of many!
Robyn, how exciting!! I am sure this will be the first of many exhibits. I wish you and your group much success.
That's great news!!! How many paintings do you get to exhibit? Lots of luck with the show!!!
I come to your blog via Kate! I want to say Congratulations on your show! This is fabulous news, indeed!
I look forward to exploring here more.
Very Best to You!
Vorrei dire "buona fortunata" That's probably ungrammatical, but I hope it goes well.
BUONA FORTUNA, ROBYN!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! WHAT A THRILL!!! Please keep us posted with photos if you can!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Ooooooooh, I'm so excited for you!!!!! What a fabulous large poster too. I guess they really want to change your name, don't they? :)
I'm still amazed at how you've settled away so nicely into the heart of Italy and into the arts community with Italian not being your native tongue.
I also have Italy-envy. Its the one place in the world that I would go and live in a heartbeat.
I tried to leave a commentearlier and blogger was being....you know! Congrats on your first show!!!How exciting.
Great poster. I'll be looking forward to seeing how it goes. We have the Pyrmont Art Prize coming up in a week or so.
WOW! Great posters...Best of luck Robyn!
Thank you everyone. I'm probably going to lose my nerve closer to the event. I promise to tell all.
Joan - I think I can show four or five paintings - so in addition to the two oils I will add a couple of watercolours.
Jeanette - I think it's enormously generous of these Italian artists to accept me into their group. I don't have a lot to say for myself!
Wendy - I think my art jeweler friend who lives in Pyrmont, will get along to your show.
The comment on this post didn't go through earlier, though the other one did...or maybe you deleted it..probably because I asked if that gorgeous woman in the pic is you and you're too modest to say yes? Good luck on the show Robyn!

Carisima amica mia! Brava, Brava, Brava!!!!! I've been so neglectful of late but had to take a minute to tell you how wonderful it is that you are part of this festival. May you enjoy the opening and all the fun of the show!!! tu'amica, marta
In my absence from blog reading, I have missed a very important event. What exciting news Robyn. I will go forward now to see if you have written about the show. Great news, and one of many I am sure.
You will always be with a "y" and I get stuck with the lowly "i".
