Oil on panel 18 x 24cm
This is the second in the challenge of six still life paintings in which one object is replaced in each picture. I'm following Casey in this challenge which originally started on WetCanvas.
I'm trying to do these paintings alla prima but I fiddled with this one again today. Note to self - don't fiddle!

I love the transparency of the glass in this and the reflection on the table.
The challenge sounds fun, something to store for the future for another project for me!
I like the orange (amber) glass bottle with the egg perched on top. Nice arrangement and you did the glass very well!
I love the amber glass! I've been toying with the idea of including an egg in the next composition also. I'm a bit under the weather so don't know if I'll start anything today!
You are really getting to grips with oils - original arrangement. The egg is wonderful as is the transparency of the glass.
It's a great challenge - but I keep thinking it would be more interesting with three objects (but more from the perspective that it's easier to design with an odd number objects.
Which is another way of saying that I always really struggle every time I have just two objects.
That's a novel composition you have there! I guess your little patch of orange is the third item?
Robyn, I hope this challenge is convincing you to not give up on oils. You've done very well on this one. The glass looks great and I like how the colors repeat in the egg. You certainly are picking tough objects for these still lifes!
Jeanette - Not too late for you to join in, the rate I'm going this will take all of 2009!
Joan - Thank you. I actually carried this image around in my head for a couple of days before I set it up. Strange goings on in my head, eh?
Marta - I'm loving your paintings from this challenge. Eggs are a favourite of mine. Now unfortunately I have to lose the egg.
Anita - Thanks, I'm glad you think I'm making progress. Still not the rich, creamy texture I'd like from oils.
Katherine - You're right about the reflected orange. It's really frustrating me only having two objects.
Stacy - Indeed it has crossed my mind not to pick such difficult objects because once in the picture you have to live with them a second time. I'm going to put a pear in the next one!
Ha! I just read Katherine's comment and see that we made exactly the same point! Great minds.
Laura - I think that bit must have been in the long comment you lost. Never mind, I do agree about your great minds :)
