Painting Cherries - It Must Be May.

Watercolour in Moleskine Watercolour Sketchbook

Our artist friend Sarah came to lunch yesterday and I made my first Salade Niçoise of the year. Apart from Baked Beans on Toast with Perfectly Poached Eggs, it's about the only dish HWEM concedes I do better than he. For dessert we bought the first perfect cherries of the season. Sarah was on to me immediately, I wanted to paint them! And I did.

I received a postcard today from Lindsay Non-Linear-Arts and I'm posting photos of it by way of a teaser. If you haven't heard of Flying Pictures yet, you will very soon and that's all I'm saying until Monday.

Lindsay Olson's hand printed postcard

And the message on the back

The leaf I coyly placed myself.

Robyn, your cherries are lovely and make me hungry for some of my own - to paint and to eat! I know you are currently learning to paint with oils, but you have a natural affinity with watercolors. I am envious because your watercolors look so realistic and effortless.

I am curious about Flying Pictures and am looking forward to Monday when I hopefully can learn more. Now I must get back to my yardwork. Break time is over.

You are so lucky Robyn living in Tuscany - cherries so early in the season. Painted delightfully. They would'nt have lasted long enough for me to sketch. Must comment here on your doors posting. Something I have always loved painting but they are not so 'romantic' in England (apart from churches). It has to be France and Italy for such beauties. Great photos.

Those are wonderful cherries :) Very shiny and bright looking. Makes me want to go and find some to eat.

If this is what I think, you have beaten me out of the blocks with the postcard exchange.

There have been Moleskine exchanges between people for quite a while, but I thought postcards might not be quite as daunting so I've put the idea to one or two friends.

Looking forward to Monday(Tuesday here, of course...)

Those cherries are gorgeous. Now I want some....
And that's a great postcard from Lyndsay. Lucky you.
Maybe once the flying pictures have made their rounds a postcard exchange would be fun.

not fair to tease us so, Robyn! excited to hear more about this mysterious project. In the mean time I love those cherries - even if I am completely jealous that you have fresh cherries already. :<

I'm envious of your ability to paint red objects so beautifully in watercolor (tulips! cherries!) The cherries are just beautiful! And congratulations on your show.

Ciliege, no? Yum. I was thinking that you and I might have a little exchange - Italian ephemera for acrylic paint!
