First Strawberries

That's first EVER strawberries that we have grown in our own garden. Less than a month after planting they are ripe. I don't want to pick them, they look so pretty. I should have painted them in watercolour. I'm regretting using this Fabriano Artist's Journal as my Garden Journal because it doesn't take watercolour very well and coloured pencils, which is what this is, always takes me ages.

I'll probably have to try them in watercolour before I eat them - sweet little things.

Lovely job on the highlights! It almost looks photographic.

FANTASTIC!!! RICH< LUSH -- and absolutely ready to pluck off the page! I LOVE the bit of undone .. really makes the berries pop off the page and right into my mouth!! GRAND! And congrats on growing them yourself!

Well, colour pencils may take ages, but you have a stunning result, Robyn.I clicked to enlarge the pic and those highlights are clever.

You've got to eat them, though...there is nothing like really fresh strawberries! And you've got your beautiful drawing to look at after they've gone!

Beautifully done - I love the contrast between the line drawing and the realistic watercolor.

Hashi - Thank you and I did enjoy your blog.

Annika - Thank you for visiting. I've now eaten those strawberries. I hope you have some local ones soon.

Lin - TY! I'm glad you like the bit of 'undone'.

Dinah - TY too. I look forward to you posting the paintings you are currently working on.

Davie - I did it. I ate them! Now I have to find a photo to do the Strawberry tutorial on Watercolour Haven.

Casey - Thanks. I did the original plant in pen with a coloured highlight, so I thought I should maintain the style.

These do look good enough to eat! I like this way of illustrating your garden. The little bit of color really makes it stand out.

Beautiful job!
There's nothing quite like eating something you've grown is there!
I think I have one of these journals too somewhere, I found it very hard to keep the pages open and when I started it used mostly lead, I'll have to dig it out now I'm a little more experienced with sketchbooking an try CP in it.

I've been very slack answering these most welcome comments. I don't deserve them! I do appreciate them though.

Joan - Thank you as usual. I am starting to see each plant that blooms as a version of the Little Shop of Horrors except they are saying (in a threatening tone) 'Draw me!'

Anita - Thanks for popping in. These little multi-coloured journals are so attractive - but they do take a bit of thinking about.

Margaret - Thank you for calling in and your sweet comment. To be honest, the only part of this that wasn't done in the garden is the hero strawberry. I took a photo and finished that inside out of the Tuscan sun.
