Local Colour - Final Pages

The Flying Pictures International Sketchbook Exchange is almost over. A couple of sketchbooks, including mine, still have to finish their journey. Casey's book Local Colour is now available as a slide show on the Flying Pictures Blog. These are my sketches which were the final pages of Casey's book.

The garden chair where I photographed many of the books.

Casey's book ready to fly home to France.

The sketchbook exchange has really challenged me and I've tried a great many different styles and approaches, some more successful than others. I'm so grateful for all the enthusiasm and encouraging comments from so many of you who visit my blog. Thank you.

I was constantly inspired by the beautiful and imaginative work of my fellow Flyers and even though this project has been much more demanding than I imagined, I can't wait to fasten my seatbelt again for another creative adventure with the Flying Pictures Crew.

Vivien and Lindsay have now also created slideshows of their finished books.

I so agree, Felicity and Terry. And, Robyn, I do like it that your blog allows these great enlargements--I'm flipping them back and forth to study and enjoy. Fun to see the photo pages spread out on the chair, too. What colors!

Hat's off to all our fellow flyers.

Oh, your beautiful garden that first drew me into this wonderful blog... I love seeing glimpses of it! And the bench is lovely. You have given it life!

(Is the tower in the third painting the same tower behind the garden?)

Truly impressive Robyn - especially as you've fitted all of this in around visitors and 'the cold'.

I love the painting of garden looking up the steps - and I'm still hoping to come and park myself on your bench one day!

I'm not sure if I like the stairs or the bench best. Both are super!!! It's sort of sad that the project is over. It was fun to watch it develop.

What a beautiful garden you have and as for that garden chair - everyone would love to have it. .. but it would soon get rusty in England's rainy climate. Glorious sunny, bright and happy pages to finish with. Will now pop over to see all the slideshows. Flying pages has been a great success everyone and kept your fans delighted as the books evolved .

Thank you, All, I'm really tickled that you like my garden chair. I've put off sketching it for such a long time because it's so complicated, then I had a go and actually surprised myself. It didn't have to be perfect after all.

Dinah - I'd love to join in a project with you! I just need to catch up with my Italian lessons etc. for a few months.

Liz - Yes that is the same tower - we are just a One Tower Town ;)

Katherine - I'll put a reservation sign on the bench for you!

Joan - It's rusting here too in this damp, foggy autumn. Whatever happened to all that Tuscan Sun!

Robyn, your paintings are lovely, especially that garden bench. It sounds like this exchange was a fun challenge for all of you. And how wonderful that you now (or will soon) have your book as a keepsake! I'm off to watch the slideshows. :)
