Tuscan Village

Detail - Pen & Watercolour for FP Sketchbook Exchange

Finally, I have finished my pages in Glen's Flying Picture Sketchbook. Glen's theme is Flowers but you'll have to wait until Casey receives the book to see where I've put them. Meantime this is a tiny peek at my contribution.

No chance for a breather once I've sent Glen's book flying off to Casey, Nina's Polychromatic Behaviour is now waiting on my desk - it's another stunner! Photos will be posted shortly.

Here is one of your best works, IMHO!

Is there any doubt that it is Tuscany? No. And so lively. Great work, Robyn.

Yet another gorgeous painting from Tuscany. What colors do you use to achieve the unmistakeable color of the Tuscan walls?

Thank you all for such positive feedback. I often find the pictures I had the greatest doubts about end up better than I thought. Thank goodness. When they end up worse, that's enough to drive me back to the kitchen!

Shirley - I owe this lovely limited palette to Australian artist and teacher John Lovett. The highlighted wall is Quinacridone Gold with a touch of Alizarin Crimson. The other two colours I used are Ultramarine Bule and Phathalo Blue. It's the most successful limited palette I've tried.

You can find John's excellent watercolour DVDs at www.johnlovett.com
