After sixteen days wait, my copy of Shirley Trevena's Vibrant Watercolours has finally arrived! It was worth the wait. Thanks to both Vivien Blackburn and Katherine Tyrrell who recommended the book. Now I'm in a state of bliss, doing the exercises and discovering just how Shirley Trevena achieves such wonderful colour.
While I'm in the mood to give free plugs, our friends, Grant and Julia, are selling their newly renovated Tuscan villa just outside Cortona. After a long stay in Italy they are heading back to Australia. 'I can't imagine why!' mutters HWEM.

Pfffffft. My idea of heaven is a brisket bone.
I'll have to check out her book. I'm looking forward to seeing what you paint in the exercises. I can't imagine having a Tuscan villa and then moving anywhere. If that isn't paradise, what is???
It looks like a lovely book. Color can be so therapeutic. So could that Tuscan villa, what beautiful country. Now we will see color splashed all over your landscapes.
Visiting your blog tonight has been a treat though as a fellow art book/supply/gadget junkie I see it's also going to be costly...a new book, and gadget and color charts to experiment with. Your paintings are wonderful too!
should Dermott be eating brisket bones ..... aren't they too salty?
Too salty? Pffft. Love salt. All I want for Christmas is Lot's Wife and a salt grinder.
Joan & Robin - I can suck you in with a Tuscan villa any day can't I ;)
Jana - Katherine Tyrrell does it to me all the time. I swear she is the cause of every art book I buy!
OOh - I just can't wait to see what you do after finishing this book!
Casey - Sorry I missed your comment. I don't think I'll ever finish the book, I keep going back to the beginning and starting again. It's lovely.
